Innovation Center Cmac
Reuse the Existing
The complex of Sant’Agostino has been reused and transformed into an innovation center that will host start-ups and companies.
In this area the project has to deal with a complex pre-existence: the ruin of an old cistercense church in the town of Comacchio (FE). The place has been adapted into a barracks and then a gymnasium over the years until his abandonment.
Even if part of the building is destroyed, the ancient church is keeping an introverted and straing layout.
It was therefore decided to proceed by integrating the missing parts with small independent blocks in order to follow the original layout.  In addition the new facades are made by a system of corten panels with movable and  folding elements. Finally, a light walkway has been inserted in order to connect the old and the new building into a single organism.
